For scripture tells us in the book of Hebrew, that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 NKJV.
Faith can also be described as Trusting or Believing
Paul writes in 2 Thessalonians 1:3, “We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more.” How does faith grow? Faith like Trust, grows only with time and experience. We have to spend time with the objects of our trust in order to learn how they operate and behave. Let us look at what Jesus told the disciple Thomas. Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29 NKJV. So, it is with Thomas as it is with you and I. Seeing is Believing and Believing is Seeing. Do we have to see something to believe it’s real or really happened? No, you do not.
Have you ever seen Christopher Columbus the great explorer, that found this new land called American. How about George Washington, the 1st President of the United States. Of course not , that was all before your time. But you know these people are real, because you learned of them from school. It is the same as it is for Jesus, the Son of God our Lord and Savior. You don’t have to see Him with your eyes, just believe, as your Bible tells you. One thing I want to point out to you, is that Jesus is alive todayand is still here with you and I.
