“But Noah found favor with the Lord.” Genesis 6:8 NLT
Noah was an obedient servant of God in the Old Testament who found favor with God despite a sinful world. Noah is known for building an ark that saved his family and every type of land animal, from the great flood that God unleashed in judgment upon the earth.
Genesis 5 is where Noah’s story begins.
Noah was the son of a man named Lamech.
We learn that Noah was the tenth generation of Adam.
When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son. Lamech named his son Noah, for he said, “May he bring us relief from our work and the painful labor of farming this ground that the Lord has cursed.” Genesis 5:28-29
God saw how corrupt and wicked man become. God regretted creating man and decided to destroy all of mankind. Genesis 6:7
God decided to save Noah and commanded Noah to build an ark to persevere Noah and Noah’s family as well as as every male and female of each species of land animals, from His punishment of a flood on the earth. Genesis 6:14-21.
By Faith Noah, when warned about things no yet seen, in Holy fear built an Ark to save his family. By Faith, he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.. Hebrews 11:7
Noah is numbered as being amongst three of the most righteous men in the book of Ezekiel, Job, and Daniel. “As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, they could save neither son nor daughter. The would save only themselves by their righteousness .” Ezekiel 14:20
Paul speaks of Noah as “Herald of Righteousness” And God did not spare the ancient world—except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood.
2 Peter 2:5
It rained for 40 days as God flooded the earth. Noah and all the animals remained safe. Genesis 7:17-18
God made a covenant with Noah, promising to never destroy them, their descendants, nor any living creatures through a flood ever again. Genesis 9:9-11
God set a rainbow in the clouds to serve as a reminder of His pledge to all living creatures on earth. Genesis 9:12-17
And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Luke 17:26-27
Conclusion:
We live in the Days of Noah
Be Ready for the Lord’s coming.
“Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat! He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn. But whenever he comes, he will reward the servants who are ready. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” Luke 12:35-40
The events leading up to the flood can be seen as a forerunner for the second coming of Jesus. Matthew 24:37-39
I pray that you hear God’s word as Noah did. Brothers and Sisters, it time to jump into the Ark. As we live our lives today, we need to know that, “Normal” is not coming back, Jesus is ✝️
